In May 2015, Shiva Hotels is holding a half-day training session on human trafficking and modern slavery with the general managers of its hotel group.
As part of Shiva Hotels’ ongoing commitment to anti-human trafficking initiatives through Shiva Foundation, it is partnering with long established and highly respected charity, Unseen, to deliver an initial awareness raising and creative thinking session around issues of human trafficking and modern slavery within the hospitality industry.
Encouraged by the passing of the Modern Slavery Act, Shiva Foundation intends to be a thought leader in this area and invites continued support and innovation on this issue both within the hospitality industry and among NGOs.Shiva Foundation hopes this will be the first step towards establishing a meaningful and practical training and policy package for the hotel group, which may be replicated across the industry.

About Shiva Foundation
As a successfully growing business, Shiva Hotels set up Shiva Foundation in 2012 with the purpose of contributing to the fight against the horrific industry that is human trafficking. Since then, it has cultivated a deeper level of knowledge about the industry and the response of the UK government, NGOs and donors to this issue. Currently, its focus is in three areas:
i. investing in building capacity and conducting research in order to form initiatives that will create changes at a systemic level;
ii. promoting long term collaboration and dialogue both domestically and internationally to build a shared vision and a strengthened response; and
iii. engaging the hospitality industry in the fight against human trafficking and to pilot innovative and impactful solutions in this regard through Shiva Hotels.
Unseen is a charity established to disrupt and challenge human trafficking at all levels. Its purpose is to work towards the eradication of slavery wherever it is found, providing survivors with safety, hope and choice. It believes the most effective way of achieving this goal is to tackle the issue holistically and operate in the following three arenas:
- Survivors support
- Working with others
